Urban Planning Effects on Communities Challenged by Climate Change
Long-term environmental changes are affecting many communities in the United States. Where fast and not well-planned urbanization is starting to see the impact caused by natural disasters, rising sea levels, and drastic temperature changes. These climatic conditions directly impact low-income communities and critical infrastructure such as power, water, and agriculture. Dangerous climatic adjustments have worsened in the past few decades becoming more severe and frequent. The government needs to take action on climate change policies. The state and federal governments must develop and maintain policies examining urban zones' current climate change struggles due to a lack of prevention efforts. This paper evaluates the current need for alternative measures to deal with the lack of mitigation in urban areas. Communities need sustainable urbanization that can reduce the environmental impacts of natural disasters while expanding the quality of life and the socioeconomic of the population.
