Perceptions of Gun Control on Campus: Influence of Knowledge and Safety on Attitudes

Background: Previous studies measuring support for gun control have failed to adequately control for participants’ knowledge of gun legislation and understanding of gun functioning.

Research Question: Is there a relationship between knowledge of gun legislation, gun functioning, purchasing policies, and support for gun control?

Analytical Approach: Cross-sectional, self-report survey of 213 college students. Knowledge was found to be inversely related to support for stricter gun control policies.
