Digital Shred: Reimagining Privacy Literacy in the Age of Surveillance Capitalism

Surveillance capitalist practices and the answering privacy protecting technologies are in an ever evolving state of flux creating a need for agile privacy literacy experiences. To answer this call, the presenters posit a unique approach to digital privacy by paying special attention to the control paradox and the limitations of techno solutionist approaches.

In this session, participants will:

-Partake in a brief crash course on privacy literacy. -Explore the presenters' theory -informed teaching approach -Engage in learning activities from the Digital Shred Workshop in order to experience the application of decision-making frameworks in lieu of tools-based approaches to digital privacy instruction.
