Culturally Conscious Organizations.pdf

This article addresses workplace culture in academic libraries as an aspect of organizational success in achieving on-the-job diversity. It introduces a conceptual framework for assessing the cultural consciousness of an organization by applying selected variables used to measure the extent of cultural integration in the workplace and identify specific competencies that move an organization towards greater inclusivity. The emphasis is on academic libraries, but the content and process of self-assessment are adaptable to information centers and libraries of all types.
