Teacher candidates leveraging children’s picture books to plan equity-oriented instruction

This study investigates how teacher candidates utilize children’s science picture books to design equity and social justice-oriented lessons. Teachers drew on references to diversity, equity, and social justice represented in the books, indicating the importance of high-quality resources for beginning teachers and demonstrating the teachers’ potential for criticality.
