Improving Police Crisis Management Training: The First Assessment of The Keystone Model
Groundwork: The CIT model is considered the gold standard in crisis management training for police. Many municipal police departments lack the resources needed to implement CIT; officers working for these departments may not receive effective crisis training through other mechanisms. The Keystone Model of Crisis Management (KMCM) is a new training model available to police departments through workshops provided by the Pennsylvania State Police (PSP).
Research Question: Does participation in the KMCM improve confidence in crisis management?
Approach: Conducted a pre- and post-test empirical assessment of the Keystone Model training.
