ENT 532 Fall 2024: Fly In Web Observations
A photo and series of sketches of a fly caught in a web outside my apartment door (09/25/2024).
My observations:
12:13am: Cold and dreary. As I try to find where my last observation went, I notice a fly caught in a web above the lamp. As it hangs precariously on a single thread, it twitches its left posterior leg. I wonder how it got caught so perfectly diagonal along the thread of silk. The wing and posterior leg on its right side are caught, perhaps it is just the right side that holds it perfectly diagonal? From time to time the fly moves its legs around, using its left posterior leg to try and push off the entangled right leg. End: 12:41am.
