Describing Visual Materials in the Digital Age.ppt

Visual materials arrangement, description, and cataloging depends on many factors--archivists' knowledge of photographic and print processes to accurately describe what is in hand, time for item-level processing, aggregate descriptions of similar images, how the collections will be used by researchers, and how the images will be presented--all or some of which will determine how these collections will be described. This talk walks archivists through the decision-making process to decide what you have, how to describe it, and offer information sources to help.
