Evaniidae catalog

Insects in the family Evaniidae, also known as ensign wasps, develop as solitary egg predators within the oothecae of cockroaches (Dictyoptera: Blattaria). Their taxonomy has long been neglected, and the current state of their classification inhibits further research on their biology. This catalog updates and documents the species- and genus-level taxonomy for both extant and extinct species, while providing information on type depositories and some distributional data. Results from an extensive literature search, including host records, behavioral data, and taxonomic notes, are also included. A total of 436 extant (plus 19 fossil) species and 20 extant (plus 11 fossil) genera are recognized as valid. 204 taxonomic changes were made.
