Impact of Mentor Programs

The present study examined the psychological effects of mentor programs on mentors and mentees. We investigated student perceptions and attitudes toward mentor and leadership programs at Penn State Berks by asking participants questions regarding academic success, well-being, resilience, and self-efficacy. It was hypothesized that students who participate as mentors in mentor programs will report greater psychological benefits than students who have not participated as mentors. The relevance of these findings for student experience and program development is discussed.
