Federal Maritime Board (1950-1961)

The Federal Maritime Board was established in the Department of Commerce by Reorganization Plan No. 21 of 1950 starting May 24, 1950. Reorganization plan No.7 1961 abolished the Board and transferred its functions to the Federal Maritime Commission (C 39.200) on August 12, 1961. Functions related to subsidization of merchant marine were sent to the Secretary of Commerce.
