Puma concolor Multi-Sequence Alignment Files

This collection contains two alignment files consisting of mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) genome sequences. Both sets contain 5 novel mtDNA genome sequences from extinct Pennsylvania mountain lions (sequences Alb813, BE813, Har813, RSL813, Wmt813). In the Mountain Lion USA MAFFT alignment file, we aligned our five mtDNA genome sequences to previously published mtDNA sequences for modern populations of mountain lions in the Western U.S. and Florida. In the Mountain Lion North and South America MAFFT alignment file, we aligned our five mtDNA genome sequences to mtDNA sequences from the Western U.S., Florida, and South America. All published sequences were obtained from Genbank. Sequences were aligned using MAFFT version 7 default settings with the E-INS-i iterative refinement method and verified visually.
