Bureau of Economic Analysis (1972-1975)

The Office of Business Economics (C43) was established by the Secretary of Commerce Jan. 17, 1946. Renamed Office of Economic Analysis Dec. 1, 1953. Transferred to the Administration of Social and Economic Statistics (C 56) along with Bureau of the Census and renamed Bureau of Economic Analysis on Jan. 1, 1972. The Bureau was abolished by Department Organization Orders 35-1A and 2a on August 4, 1975. The Bureau (C59) regained independent status in 1975.
