Cost-Estimation of Drayage Logistics Operations For Small To Mid-Size Firms
This paper focuses on developing a cost-estimation model for the road freight industry to enable small to mid-size logistics firms to make more informed business decisions. The study concentrates on historical sales data associated with the drayage business unit of Company X. The final model based on this data is a multiple-linear regression utilizing total miles, number of drivers, fuel surcharge rate, and number of moves in the service week as inputs to estimate the total weekly cost. The paper also identifies further improvements to be made to the model for improved accuracy.
