Technical Report on Supplementary Public Comments on Keystone Sanitary Landfill, Pioneer Aggregates, and Hazleton Creek Properties
The objective of this report submitted to the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (PADEP) supplements the request for specific monitoring at the Keystone Sanitary Landfill (KSL) facility and supplement the previously submitted public comments on KSL facility and Pioneer Aggregates site in Fell Township. This correspondence supplements this writer’s correspondences dated January 13, 2020, January 28, 2020, February 24, 2020, and May 7, 2020 March 2021 Report, March 15, 2021 regarding assessment of Per- and Polyfluoroalkyl Substances (PFAS) compounds that have been documented in municipal/residual waste landfills and highly suspected in construction/demolition waste sites noted in past correspondences as Pioneer Aggregates and Hazleton Creek Properties in peer reviewed research papers and government/educational sources. A recent report by the Sierra Club and Ecology Center (May 2021) provides data that shows that commercial products produced with wastewater treatment sludge do have detectable PFAS contamination and are commonly used in residential areas.
