Substance Abuse Among Older Adults
Substance abuse among older adults -- especially the Baby Boomer generation (born 1946-1974) -- is a growing problem. A literature review was conducted to locate current research. Findings include that Baby Boomers are increasing use of opioids and benzodiazapines. Implications indicate a greater need for substance abuse counselors as Baby Boomers continue to age.
