Trotter hair data - measurement data from cross-sections of hairs sampled from adults

This dataset contains measurements of hair cross-section dimensions transcribed from Mildred Trotter's notebooks and represents populations sampled from around the world in the early to mid-twentieth century. Multiple hairs from each person were measured and documented. This dataset is limited to adults between the age of 16-50. Each hair in this dataset is identified by a numerical sample ID, ethnogeographic ancestry, age, and sex. Calculated indices (Trotter's hair index and ellipticity index) and area numerically represent the cross-sectional shape and size for each measured hair. Hair samples and Mildred Trotter's notebooks remain under the curation of the Smithsonain National Museum of Natural History.
