Faint Blue Objects at High Galactic Latitude. II. Palomar Schmidt Field Centered on Selected Area 29
Peter D. Usher, Dianne Mattson, Archibald Warnock III
The second part of a list of ultraviolet excess objects is given. The objects have been selected from a Palomar Schmidt field centered on Kapteyn selected area 29. The population of objects belonging to color classes 1A, 1, and 1B should be comprised primarily of quasars and white dwarfs and should be statistically complete to about B = 18.5 mag. One of the listed objects is a 5 mag optical variable; a journal of observations is given, derived from Harvard archival and contemporary Palomar Schmidt plates. US943 (now DV UMa) is a Cataclysmic Variable star undergoing outbursts of 5 mag. It was discovered by Dianne Duncan (nee Mattson) when she was a Penn State undergraduate student. http://adsabs.harvard.edu/abs/1982ApJS...48...51U https://doi:10.1126/science.1259063
US 708 is a unique subdwarf O-star. US 943 (now DV UMa) is a Cataclysmic Variable star undergoing outbursts of 5 mag discovered by Dianne Duncan (nee Mattson) when she was a Penn State undergraduate student.
