JAA and Archaeology: A forty year odyssey
Anniversaries are a convenient opportunity to take stock of where one has been and where one might be heading. Journals are no exception, and the Journal of Anthropological Archaeology (JAA) has now been in existence for 40 years. To mark this occasion, all five past and present Editors contribute their perspectives about the journal, its purpose and development, and its place in the field. Perhaps some of their experiences and challenges will help others tempted to embark on a similar journey, which begins with founding a journal and extends across decades as a distinctive voice and position in the field are established.
