Experimental Data on Engineering Risk Biases
Results from 3 experiments conducted with undergraduate engineering students at Penn State University. These included estimated of quantitative values from visual information (experiment A); selection of preferred risk mitigation opportunity among options of equal expected value (experiment B); and estimated reliability among model systems with varying complexity, component quality, and severity of failure (experiment C).
