
Building Bridges with the Pennsylvania State Police: An Assessment of Community Intervention
Groundwork: High-profile cases of excessive use of force have contributed to a “legitimacy crisis” in policing.1,6,7,8 The Pennsylvania State Police (PSP) created and implemented the Building Bridges program to improve police-community relations in response. The effectiveness of these programs is unknown.
Research Question: Does exposure to the PSP’s Building Bridges intervention improve perceptions of police?
Approach: Conducted a multi-year pre- and post-test empirical assessment of the Building Bridges intervention.
