REACTIONS OF COAL WITH ATOMIC SPECIES
Special Research Report SR-34 The conversion of coal in tonnage quantities to economically useful products is desirable. The reaction of coal with hydrogen is interesting since the reaction leads to the formation of hydrocarbons which are in demand. The reaction involving molecular hydrogen, however, requires high temperatures and ~ressures to proceed at an appreciable rate and as subh is not competitive in most cases with other processes, e.g., the stripping of natural gas.
