Second-harmonic Generation from Asymmetric Lithium Niobate Metasurfaces

In this paper, we study the second-harmonic generation (SHG) in lithium niobite (LN) based asymmetric metasurfaces. The numerical results show that high Q-factor resonances linked to quasi-bound states in the continuum (quasi-BICs) can give rise to highly efficient SHG from LN metasurfaces. Our work reveals the potential application of conventional nonlinear crystals in nonlinear metadevices.
