Induction of Labor and Cesarean Sections: An Ethical Issue
This project aims to discuss the ethical issues of providers deciding when to perform a cesarean section after a failed induction. C-sections and inductions are described, as well as risks, indications, complications, etc. A nationwide survey was conducted, with 475 responses from nurses, answering six questions regarding their experiences as a labor and delivery nurse. This correlates with the ANA Code of Ethics (Provisions 2 and 3) and the nursing ethical principles (autonomy, non-maleficence, beneficence, and veracity). It was concluded that further research needs to be done on this topic.
