The Effects of Transracial Adoptions and Loss of Culture

Race and culture are fundamentally tied to one’s identity in American society. Whether we want to admit it or not, race plays a significant role in how we see ourselves and those around us, how we interact with other people on a daily basis, and the overall culture in the United States. In some cases, this may lead to particularly life defining decisions. So how does this relationship between race, culture, and identity affect children who are adopted by families with different racial or ethnic backgrounds?
