Quad X: A Student-Engineered Multirotor Drone Project
This project focused on engineering a fully functional quadcopter drone by integrating mechanical design, electrical systems, and embedded programming. We designed a custom frame in SolidWorks to maximize aerodynamic efficiency and fabricated it using lightweight carbon fiber to enhance performance. From CAD modeling to hands-on assembly and flight controller programming, the process required collaboration, problem-solving, and technical precision. Developed entirely by undergraduate students, this drone demonstrates the practical application of core engineering skills and is showcased at the Penn State Mont Alto Academic Festival as a symbol of student-driven innovation.
