AAU University Libraries and Data Services in 2019

This study examined trends in research data services and staffing within Association of American Universities (AAU) libraries between 2014-2019. The changes for each library were compared to their respective strategic plans over the same time period to determine the alignment of priorities and measurable action. A focus on research data in libraries strategic plans was not found to predict increases in data services or positions. While there have been modest overall increases in the diversity and amount of research data services within the population, many institutions have shifted focus toward data repositories and new staffing models.
