Testing the Influence of Music on Cognitive Performance, Spring 2015

The purpose of this experiment was to test for a relationship between music and cognitive performance. To test the intensity of influence that music has on cognitive performance, it was hypothesized that participants subjected to listening to music while completing a task would yield less accurate results than participants not listening to music. The experimental group was subjected to completing an “easy” level Sudoku puzzle while listening to music, and the control group was subjected only to completion of the Sudoku puzzle. The results found did not suggest a significant relationship between the two variables tested.
