Lateral Privacy Literacy: Peer-Led Professional Privacy Literacy Learning Experiences

This chapter offers content and learning design considerations for privacy literacy (PL) learning experiences delivered by and for library practitioners. The literature review outlines current practices in continuing education in the library profession, surveys learning design principles from andragogy (or adult learning), and demonstrates their application to PL learning experiences for library workers. The chapter presents four examples of peer-led, practitioner-facing PL learning experiences, detailing their purpose, necessary resources, and results. These cases serve as examples of how andragogy principles can be applied to PL learning design for library workers in order to bridge the theory-practice gap and support library practitioners in more effectively advocating for privacy.
