Ants and aphids on doormat

There is an ant colony in my house's front lawn. For the past several weeks, no member was seen outside. This day, I saw many ants crawling around in a lawn and on the porch. I wondered why they would be out since it is winter. Perhaps, because the weather was warmer than usual and it had also rained. Sometimes, after heavy rain, we get ant pest problem in our house because the water displaces the ants. This time, although the ants did not come in, they were strolling in the porch and on our door mat. I also saw many aphids along with ants that I never observed before. Perhaps they were farmed by the ants.
