Investigating Nanoparticle Organization in Block Copolymers Via Atom Transfer Radical Polymerization (ATRP)

Atom transfer radical polymerization (ATRP) is a robust method to synthesize block copolymers. We synthesized polymers with 3 different molecular weight ratios of PLMA to PMMA, i.e., 1/4,1/2, 1, poly (lauryl methacrylate) -b-poly (methyl methacrylate) (PLMA-b-PMMA) block copolymer via ATRP under different reaction conditions, e.g., different polymerization time, different solvent. Then we characterized them to get molecular weight and diblock by SEC, and the hypothesized morphology, disorder spheres, by SAXS. These steps will be prepared for future work.
