Simulation Studies to Detect Malingering: Improved Prediction of Malingering Status by the Application of Logistic Regression Analysis and the Use of lndependent Predictors
Three studies were conducted on detecting malingering neuropsychological tests. Study one focused on detection of simulation by tests of memory and problem solving, while study two cross-validated findings associated with malingering. Study three tested the ability of a symptom validity test and the Computer Category Test to detect malingering. Detection was improved relative to the use of clinical decision rules my using logistic regression analysis on two independent measures, increasing correct prediction from 80.7% to 92.1%.
