Alcohol Consumption and Liver Disease
This systematic review analyzes literature on the relationship between alcohol consumption and liver disease. The liver can contract multiple diseases after it is severely damaged and it can affect people of all ages (American Liver Foundation, 2014). Alcoholic liver disease develops after years of heavy drinking, causing the liver to inflame and scar (Medline Plus, 2014). Liver disease affects 1 in 10 Americans (American Liver Foundation, 2014); thus, we determined conducting a systematic review would be most appropriate to emphasize the data on this topic.
