Effects of Maternal Marijuana Use on the Mother and the Infant Within the First Year of Delivery

The purpose of this evidence-based research paper was to determine the effects of marijuana on neonates and mothers when it is used during pregnancy. For this paper, the authors researched peer reviewed articles that were dated from 2012 to present and summarized the findings. Most research was found using the Penn State Library Database. It was concluded that neonates that were exposed to marijuana while in the womb were more likely to experience adverse effects. Mothers were not more likely to have hypertension, but they were more likely to go into spontaneous preterm birth.
