Assessing Student Perceptions of Inquiry-guided Learning Taught Through Mixed-mode Instruction
Little research has been conducted on the effects of COVID-19 restrictions on student learning inside and outside of the classroom. As these restrictions impact students at all levels of education, it is vital that the different avenues of limitations associated with remote and in-person learning be explored. The goal of this study is to expand research in this area by using qualitative thematic analysis to discover barriers students (N = 25) faced throughout an inquiry-guided, mixed-mode learning experience provided to students at two Penn State Commonwealth Campuses in the Fall of 2020. Findings are important to consider in the discussion of what actions can be taken to better aid student success in future courses that incorporate mixed-mode instruction.
