Simulation of the Homogeneous Capacitated Vehicle Routing Problem – A Case Study
ABSTRACT: Logistics industry is thriving more than ever, with increased workload due to the pandemic crisis. The last mile leg of the logistics is associated with the highest cost and is the least efficient process in the logistics process chain. A wide verity of solutions have been proposed and implemented to improve the last mile logistics. VRP (Vehicle Routing Problem) is a popular optimization algorithm applied to the last mile problem. One kind of the VRP is the Capacitated VRP (CVRP). The purpose of this paper is to apply and simulate a homogenous CVRP to a problem occurring in Buraydah City in Saudi Arabia. Like all developing countries, Saudi Arabia focuses in logistics and consider it to be one of the main components of gross domestic product (GDP) revenue stream.
