The SoTL Springboard: Co-Researcher Partnerships as Faculty Development

Presented at 2020 SoTL Commons Conference. Savannah, GA.

The SoTL Springboard describes a mentorship model of faculty professional development in which faculty members shadow scholars who are engaged in projects of interest. The “springboard partners” observe and support the project in a secondary role in preparation to launch their own project in a future time frame. We report on a qualitative study of prior springboard partners, including benefits, challenges, and strategies for identifying appropriate opportunities for fostering such partnerships.
