THE SCENIC DESIGN PROCESS

THIS WORK IS A PRESENTATION OF IMAGES -ARRANGED IN A TOP TO BOTTOM - LEFT TO RIGHT SEQUENCE- THAT DESCRIBE 8 DIFFERENT STEPS OF THE SCENIC DESIGN PROCESS: 1. INFORMATION ABOUT THE MUSICAL "Kiss of the Spider Woman" Provides basic information about the creators of the piece, as well as the original production. 2. IMAGE RESEARCH Shows a collection of images selected by the scenic designer that provide visual reference of the context in which the story takes place. These images include those that result from the designer's emotional response. 3. WHITE MODEL Scale 1/4" = 1'-0" Scale representation of the set -architectural space of the venue and scenery. It's generally built in white cardstock and its focused on shape, proportion, and the use of space. 4. COLOR MODEL Scale 1/4" = 1'-0" Scale representation of the set and architectural space of the venue with color and details. 5. COMPUTER DRAFTING Set of detailed computer draftings from which the set pieces will be built. 6. SCENIC PAINTING Is the painting process of all the scenic elements. 7. SPIDER WEB The Spider Web designed for this production is a scenic piece that was built by the scenic shop, and required a combination of sculpture and painting methods. 8. ACTORS ON STAGE Refers to the rehearsals that take place on stage, once the set is ready for the performance. NOTE: THE REAL SCALE COLOR MODEL WAS PRESENTED ON A PEDESTAL NEXT TO THE POSTER (SEE SHEET 4 FOR IMAGES OF THIS MODEL).
